Aunt Fanny, my father's sister, was born in 1922, in Ankara, Turkey, to Ester and Aaron Arav.
She had three brothers (Itzhak-Isaac, Avraham and Yehuda) and two sisters (Sara and Lea). She was the youngest daughter in the family. Her original name was Luna.

In 1934, Grandpa Aaron Arav and his family adopted a new family name: Aglamaz (a word in Turkish).
New family name in Turkish: In 1934, Turkey issued the "Surnames Law". According to this law, all families had to get a family name in the Turkish language. Consequently, Jewish families too had to accept new family names, in Turkish. The new surname Aaron Arav and his family received was AGLAMAZ.

Aunt Fanny married Uncle Kemal Berkun, in 1943, in Ankara. They had two sons, Isak and Erol (Aaron).

Aunt Fanny and Uncle Kemal immigrated to Eretz-Israel (Mandatory Palestine, under British administration) circa 1944, with plans to settle, but returned to Ankara after a year or two.
